LEBoatanchor Group Feb 22 2014

Lake Erie Boatanchors Group

The Lake Erie Boatanchor group is a bunch of ham radio enthusiasts that have a huge appreciation for old ham radio equipment. There is no organization and no membership.

The meetings that we have are NOT hamfests! I wish to emphasize that. The meeting is a place to see friends and bring any old ham radio equipment that you wish to see passed on for use by someone else. All equipment exchanged at our meetings is done without regard to what the equipment may be worth on an internet auction site. We simply expect that you will personally use any equipment that you acquire at our meetings. Reselling any of this equipment and profiting from our generosity is strongly frowned upon and asking Ebay prices for equipment that you bring will not be welcomed.

Clague Park 02-25-2012 Meeting

The February 25th meeting of the Lake Erie Boatanchors Group was a good one! About 60 people that are interested in the old style radios attended. It was an overcast, slightly snowy day in Westlake and the temperature was about 30 degrees outside and inside it was a toasty warm.

In the picture above you see Bruce K8BAR and Ken K8TV with Tony K8TG to the left. It was good to see Jeff W9GY. I have chatted with Jeff on the air and I finally got to meet him. That's the kind of thing that makes these meetings a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

It really was a nice get together and beside radios, we talked about the new email meeting notification method that will be used for all future meetings. Also, a method of posting items on this web page was announced. This means that you are now able to let the LE Boatanchors members know about any need you have for parts and or documentation or other expertise by directly entering a post to this page! Several trial posts resulted in immediate success at locating parts and this new feature is expected to help the group members locate whatever is necessary to get the old boatanchor equipment back up and running.

If you would like to update your email address for meeting notices or need help figuring out how to post an item to this page, send an email to Larry W8ER at meetingnotices@leboatanchors.com.

If you are into planning, the next meeting of the Lake Erie Boatanchors group will be on Saturday September 8th. As the meeting nears, pictures and maps will be posted here. Please check the "MEETING INFO" tab at the top of the page.

Again, our thanks to Bill Rieke K8DBN and Ron Mayer W8KYD for their efforts at making these meetings possible. It is no small task to schedule the use of the facilities and organize these meetings!
